Volunteer Spotlight – Ken and Sam Fraser
For the past decade, Ken and Sam Fraser have devoted countless hours to helping Kicks For Kids enhance the lives of local children. They share a love for volunteering that is deeply rooted; having moved several times, Ken and Sam have always gotten involved in their community and helped wherever they could.

Ken first volunteered with KFK in 1998, after Sam happened to stumble upon a newspaper article about Kicks For Kids and its mission to help local kids at risk. That year, Ken helped out at the Great Outdoor Adventure at Potter’s Ranch. “It blew me away,” Ken recalled, “I went home to Sam and said, ‘this is it’.” They started volunteering at every KFK event. In 1999, Ken took on the role of coordinating volunteers, while Sam found a love for event day registration. While their roles have changed over the years, their hearts have always been in the same place, and that is to help local children. “We don’t do this for any type of accolades. We know it benefits the kids,” Ken stated.

Sam is now in charge of registration at the Golf Outing, and also helps with the Christmas Celebration. She enjoys every new year, because she gets to see familiar faces but also experiences the joy amongst the newcomers. “It’s seeing the excitement of the new people…people that come to Paul Brown Stadium, with their eyes just open wide; it’s just a really good feeling,” Sam said. Ken now serves as a committee member for both the Celebrity Golf Outing and the Christmas Celebration. To Ken and Sam, their years with Kicks For Kids are as natural as breathing. “I am a lifer,” Ken said, “There is no reason why{Sam and I} would stop. How could you not do Kicks For Kids?”

As the saying goes, good things do come in pairs. We thank you, Ken and Sam Fraser, for being the pair that does so much good!
