Service Efforts Rewarded
For the second year in a row, the chaperones and children who attended the annual Christmas Celebration were asked to complete a community service project before the event. KFK worked with ten local children's agencies to coordinate projects that took place in November and December. The projects gave the chaperones and children a chance to get to know each other before the party, and also gave each child the opportunity to give back to his/her local community.

The widespread volunteer effort kicked-off on Saturday, November 7th. In Covington, KY, one group spent time with elderly residents making crafts and playing games, while another group in Covington cleaned up a park in City Heights. In Cincinnati, OH the group made fleece scarves for the homeless at the City Gospel Mission. The remaining projects took place on Friday, November 20th, Saturday, November 21st and Saturday, December 5th.

Every project was different and catered to a specific need in each community. Amy Wilhelmus, with The Moore Activity Center, has seen such positive results with KFK's service efforts that she decided to implement additional service projects at the Center. "The service projects allow the children to give, instead of expecting to receive all of the time," Amy said.
