Without the continued support of sponsors like Blue Grass Recycling, Kicks For Kids would not be able to enhance the lives of so many local children. For more than a decade, the company's vast involvement includes sponsoring the Kids Zone at the RGI River Run, participating in the Meijer/KFK Celebrity Golf Classic, and for the second year in a row, sponsoring the charity's 2008 Basketball Camp in Kentucky.
The company's relationship with Kicks For Kids stems from a friendship built more than a decade ago between its founder, Guy Witte, and KFK's Executive Director, Ted Kluemper. Having first met while Ted worked at The Bank of Kentucky, when Ted decided to make a career move to KFK, Guy was introduced to the variety of things the charity provided for local children at risk; Guy knew immediately he wanted to get Blue Grass Recycling involved. "While there are a lot of charities out there, this one I feel really good about because we know the money is going to be used the right way for people who really need it," Guy stated.
He was also drawn to the charity because of KFK's Founder, Doug Pelfrey. "Doug has a reputation as a very good corporate citizen, and I first recall all the things he did for his community during his years in the spotlight with the Bengals," Guy said.
Blue Grass Recycling continues to support the Kids Zone at the RGI River Run year after year, as well as participates in the Meijer/KFK Celebrity Golf Classic. "It is a lot of fun to do the golf outing," Guy said, "It is the best celebrity golf event that I, as well as many of my guests that I bring in, have ever seen!" For the second year in a row, the company will also sponsor KFK's 3rd Annual Basketball Camp in Kentucky. Guy said he continues to support the charity, because he fully trusts how KFK allocates the money his company donates. "When you are in business, you get phone calls from a variety of people, and you never really know who is on the other end," Guy explained, "But this way, you know that the money is going to be used a variety of ways."
In summarizing the company's involvement, Guy explained that Blue Grass Recycling and its staff feel privileged to continue to reach out to KFK. "We are just glad to be able to help, and blessed that we are able to contribute," Guy stated.
