On August 3rd Kicks For Kids held its 2nd Annual trip to Bengals Training Camp. This was no ordinary football practice for the nearly 40 area kids who attended. The action-packed day started off with a ride to Georgetown College 'in style,' thanks to our friends at L&L Limousine. On the trip down, the children enjoyed snacks, drinks and… a highlight video of the Bengals 2005 playoff season. They were ready for football after that. As the limos pulled into practice former Bengals' kickers Doug Pelfrey and Jim Breech greeted the kids…and signed the first of what would be many autographs.
As practice started our group was brought to the "best seats in the house" right behind the Bengals' bench. Next to the field, the kids were able to get an up-close look at their favorite Bengals in action. Whether they were watching Chad Johnson wow the crowd during receiving drills, talking to Rudi Johnson as he got in a little extra workout on a stationary bike, or watched in amazement as to just how big those lineman really are…each child was thrilled to be there. The highlight of the day for many kids came just after practice when they were able to get autographs from Shayne Graham, Carson Palmer, Marvin Lewis and many other Bengals as they headed in from practice.
The day wrapped up with dinner in the President's Box high above the practice field where current Bengals and Pro Bowl kicker Shayne Graham joined the group. Shayne and Jim Breech both spoke to the kids and shared inspirational stories from their days as a pro. The day proved to be a great way for 40 deserving kids to kick off what will hopefully be another winning season for the Bengals
